The Barcelona wax museum was opened in 1973 with the participation of the famous Spanish filmmaker Enrique Alarcón. This museum has nothing to do with the famous Madame Tussauds project. The museum is located in a house built in the 19th century, which was previously occupied by the Banco de Barcelona, in the Passatge de la Banca. In 1973, a well-known Spanish filmmaker, Enrique Alarcón, decided to create a wax museum here. The interior of the building is absolutely luxurious, it is a true mansion from the neoclassical period.
This museum is located in a discreet back alley at Passatge de la Banca, 8.
It is estimated that there are a total of 360 wax figures, representing various political and religious figures who had a serious impact on the development of Catalonia and Spain, as well as other countries outside of them, honor art and art workers. cinema, all kinds of dictators, party leaders, leaders and parents of the people, scientists, researchers and adventurous travelers. You can find hero figures, some inhabitants of the underwater world, bank robbers from the 30s; at the end of the tour you will be able to observe the famous maniacs and their victims, and you will also be able to get acquainted with the common forms of execution that they used, you will also be able to meet face to face with the characters from horror movies.
Some of the figures are quite realistic. The museum also includes two other exhibitions - the Bosc de les Fades - where you will find characters from fairy tales. The figures presented in the museum are the result of the hard work of historians, art historians, computer scientists, anthropologists, as well as sculptors, hairdressers and makeup artists who directly embodied the images. And of course, let's not forget the interior and clothing designers. The separate entrances to these exhibitions are located on the street opposite the entrance to the museum building itself.
