Pamplona Cathedral
The Pamplona Cathedral is located next to the Plaza del Castillo, only within the old city walls. The cathedral was built in the 15th century in the Gothic style; the neoclassical façade and towers date from 1780. Inside the cathedral you can admire the grandiose sanctuary with its magnificent choir created by Miguel de Anchta. In front of the choir is the alabaster tomb (created around 1420) of Carlos III the Noble and his wife Leonor de Trastamar by the Flemish master Jean de Lomme. The Main Chapel displays the exquisite Gothic Retebo created in 1507 with beautiful sculptural details and paintings. In the south corridor, with a richly gilded door, is the bell of the Death of the Virgin; the door gives access to a medieval cloister considered one of the best Gothic monasteries in Spain. On the east side of the monastery is the Barbazana Chapel, which houses the tomb of Cardinal Arnaldo de Barbazana.
