Situated on a hillside overlooking Granada, the Hotel Alhambra Palace has beautiful views of the city and the Alhambra. Although certainly palatial, this hotel has seen better days ... the carpet may be a little worn around the edges and some of the furniture may need updating. The history, grandiose lobby, and rooftop bar with city views still give the property a romantic and luxurious feel.
The rooms of the Alhambra Palace Hotel continue with the aesthetics of the main areas of the hotel, although in a subdued way. Warm colors dominate wallpapers and furniture; some bathrooms have intricate Moorish-inspired tiles. Some suites and rooms look a bit frayed around the edges, with older rugs and thin bedspreads, and bathrooms have a somewhat awkward layout, with little room to maneuver between facilities. Some rooms have city views. Flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi are in all rooms, though the latter can be slow.
The reception is open 24 hours a day. The Hotel Alhambra Palace offers an ATM, currency exchange and paid parking.
The Alhambra Palace Hotel is located on a hillside facing the city, and is about a five-minute walk from the Alhambra. Granada's Plaza Nueva, the main shopping area and town square, is about a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel. Some have commented on the lack of basic shopping in the area. A bus that crosses the hotel goes to the city center.
