The Roman Theater is located in Malaga, Spain, at the foot of the mountain. The buildings of this architectural wonder date back to the 1st century B.C.
Presumably, the theater was built in the 1st century BC, by order of the Emperor Octavius ​​Augustus. The building was used for its purpose until the 3rd century B.C.


Its discovery was very unusual, the fact that this historical monument was very accidentally discovered in 1951; the excavations lasted ten long years, after which the reconstruction of the building had to be immediately organized to preserve it, at least partially. During the repair work that was carried out in the garden of the Casa de la Cultura. Archaeological excavations were carried out in the 1960s, during which it was discovered that the new building was built on top of the Roman Theater. In 1994 the

House of Culture was demolished without hesitation and the theater was completely excavated. Excavations at this site were carried out until the 1990s.
Today, the Roman Theater is a perfect complement to the architectural complex of the Alcazaba and is of great interest to many tourists who visit the historic district of Malaga, this being one of the historical sites of the city that allows you to fully enjoy the atmosphere of years gone by.
