The Plaza de los Naranjos is located in the historic center of Marbella and is considered the heart of the city. It was founded in 1485 after the Reconquest after several buildings, most of them Muslim architecture, were erected during the Islamic period in Spain. The objective of the project was to slightly clear the city center and to build important administrative, economic and political buildings in the plaza.

Today you can read the history of Marbella from the buildings of the Plaza de los Naranjos Among them are the important and symbolic Town Hall built in the late sixteenth century, the Casa del Corregidor and the Ermita de Santiago, which was the religious temple oldest in the city.

The road leading to Plaza de los Naranjos cuts through a maze of narrow, straight and winding streets with many cozy cafes and restaurants, boutiques and terraces, as well as old buildings. And here you reach the plaza itself, and immediately you get to wrap yourself in its extraordinary atmosphere. The abundant greenery of the numerous orange trees contrasts with the white facades of the Andalusian houses that rise along the perimeter. The terraces of the bars and restaurants are always full of people eating, talking and simply enjoying this unique corner of Marbella.
