Sunny Alicante is in eastern Spain and, together with two other provinces (Valencia and Castellón), it is part of the Autonomous Community of Valencia. It borders the provinces of Murcia and Albacete to the west and southwest, with Valencia to the north and the Mediterranean Sea to the east. Alicante's landscape is mountainous, with a significant altitude difference between the neighborhoods. Above the city are the Benacantiles and Tossal mountains, the ridges of San Julian and Grossa.

There are around two million people living in Alicante, but during the tourist season this number increases two or three times. The main point of attraction for tourists is the tourist centers of the Costa Blanca. In the 21st century, this area has assumed a leading role in the country's tourism sector.

The total length of the beaches is more than 200 kilometers. Besides recreation on the beach, Alicante offers tourists many other leisure activities for all tastes: numerous reserves, gardens, amusement parks, lakes and waterfalls, casino water parks and many other interesting places for tourists and travelers.

Albufereta Beach:

On the north-western outskirts of the city is Albufereta beach with palm trees, stony plots and a yacht harbor. It is only a few minutes by tram.

Spain Square:

Built on the site of an old marina in the first half of the 20th century. Collected 6,000,000 cubes, formed in a mosaic in the shape of a wave of red, black and white colors. In addition, there are four rows of palm trees, each 500 m long. This square is symbolic for both Alicante residents and tourists who visit the city. It was restored and renovated in the 90s and is still considered one of the emblematic places of the city. Before the Spanish Civil War, this recreational area was called Avenida de los Mártires.

Postiguet Beach:

The closest and most famous beach in Alicante is Playa de la Postiguet, a coastal strip approximately one kilometer long with fine sand. It is located at the foot of Monte Benacancio. The Postiguet beach is separated from the city by the Esplanada de España promenade.

Canalehas Park:

Located behind Plaza España. This park houses many ancient trees of enormous size (Ficus), which means that almost the entire territory of the park is in the shade. The proximity to the sea makes the park a great place to relax and read. At both ends of the park are decorative fountains, stone sculptures of lions and dogs at the park's entrance. Another interesting place in the park is a huge map of Spain and a monument to the Alicante writer Carlos Arnica.

Museum of Modern Art (MACA):

The Alicante Museum of Modern Art, located in the old town. Since 2006, the museum has been undergoing reconstruction and expansion and is therefore closed to the public. Until recently, it was called the Insurance Museum, as well as the building itself, one of the oldest in the city, built in 1685.

The building, a beautiful example of the local baroque, has been used for various purposes since its foundation: as a municipal granary, prison, artillery park, business school and even a temporary residence for the Town Hall.

The museum exhibits paintings, sculptures, mixed technologies and lithographs by Spanish and foreign artists. The museum will also exhibit the collection of its designer Eusebio Sampere, where most of the master's works will be exhibited, as well as the collection of the Alicante artist Juan Frances.

Provincial Archaeological Museum (MARCA):

Archaeological artifacts from all provinces are exhibited here, from the Stone Age to modern times, such as the Iberian lady Cabezo Lucero.

During most of 2006, the museum hosted the exhibition "Lord of Sipán", where the treasures of the Mochichi (pre-Columbian culture of South America that existed from the 1st to the 8th century on the Peruvian coast) were shown for the first time outside the museum ).

It is located in the old Hospital of San Juan de Dios, in the El Pla neighborhood.

The Town Hall is a historic Baroque building. The interesting thing about the Town Hall is the meeting room, the chapel and the twin towers over 30 meters high.
