The Valencia Oceanogràfic is one of the largest oceanariums in Europe. The park is divided into 10 different sections, which represent different ecosystems. It has a space of about 110,000 square meters, with a total volume of water in all aquariums - 42 million liters, which are home to 45,000 species of the underwater world in an impressive way.
The Spanish-Mexican architect Félix Candela Outeriño (January 27, 1910 - December 7, 1997) is responsible for the special building. He is best known in the world of architecture for his role in the development of Mexican architecture and construction technology.

When Candela moved from Spain to Mexico, he only started to grow in architecture. Before that, he was already studying to be an architect, but since he fought in the Spanish Civil War against General Franco, he was expelled from the country. When Candela lived in Mexico, he was responsible for more than 300 works and 900 projects. Among other things, he designed hotels, churches, markets and clubs. His last project started in 1994: the Oceanogràfic. In 1997 Candela died at the age of 87. Five years later, his last job was completed.

Saltwater is supplied from the Malvarossa beach and meets all the requirements of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station. Many representatives of marine fauna live in large-volume underground aquariums. The Valencia Oceanarium truly delights the diversity that reigns there: fearsome sharks, smart dolphins, rays and jellyfish, belugas, elephant seals, penguins and others.

The Valencia Oceanogràfic is divided into twelve sections, each with its own characteristics:
Mediterranean: aquarium with flora and fauna of the Mediterranean Sea.
Wetlands: waterfowl from the Spanish swamps and tropical mangroves. You will find beautiful birds here, but if you look closely you can also find turtles!

Temperate and Tropical: aquarium with fauna of temperate and tropical seas. You will also find swimming pools with common seals and Magellanic penguins. You will also find the most beautiful coral reefs here!

Islands: part based on the islands along the coast of South America. Here you will find sea lions from Patagonia.
